What is Project 2022?
Project 2022 is a plan to build our own community center in greater Orlando area and we have set the target to start the project by 2022.
What is a community center?
– A place where all interested members can gather and celebrate Nepali culture and traditions
– A Place that will enable Nepali musicians, artists, and spiritual leaders to perform and entertain.
– A place for the community members to perform marriage and other social rituals.
– A point of contact place for community members who are in need for basic support essential for their growth and sustainability.
– A place to consolidate human resources to serve the community.
Why do we need our own Community center?
Central Florida Nepalese-American community is rapidly growing. Current estimate is that there are over 86 Nepalese-American families living in Orlando, lake mary, Kissimmee, Daytona Beach, Titusville areas, and over 900 families in Florida periphery. Expected rate of growth of this community members are in double digit in the next ten years.
For this reason, a community center is not only desirable but also necessary in order to unite Nepalese origin people across central Florida region. This will bring about a sense of belonging and connection with Nepal to the future generation of Nepalese Americans.
The mission of the center shall be to preserve identity by promoting Nepali culture and traditions. Our initiatives will be to build a united supportive community center for people belonging to Nepalese origin and friends of Nepal in order to promote awareness of the Nepali culture/traditions and values.
How much fund need to be raised to build a community center?
Keeping in mind the cost of properties in the Orlando area, it is estimated that around $470,000 is needed to build 3500 SF facility in Orlando area. We are planning to raise this amount by 2022 to start the Project. Let us all be part of this noble cause and click the Donate button.
