Fundraising for 2015 Earthquake victims of Nepal

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal on April 25, 2015, toppling multi-story buildings in Kathmandu, the capital, and creating landslides and avalanches in the Himalaya Mountains. Nearly 9,000 people died and more than 22,000 suffered injuries. It was the deadliest earthquake in the seismically active region in 81 years. More than 600,000 homes were destroyed and more than 288,000 were damaged in the 14 worst-hit districts. The quakes’ strongest impact was in remote rural areas, making the response extremely challenging.

Humanitarian organizations responded quickly to the disaster with search and rescue teams and immediate aid deliveries. Work is still underway to rebuild schools, health clinics, houses, livelihoods, and to help families and communities gain more resilience to environmental shocks.

NCCO members also could not be silent in such a devastating situation and decided to raise fund to help earthquake victims in whatever ways possible. Total 18.5K was dispersed to various organization and schools for immediate relief work.  

1. NCCO sent $8000.00 (eight thousand) to rebuild the earthquake damaged school in Nunthala, Khotang (NEPAL).
2. NCCO sent the amount of $5500.00 (five thousand five hundred) to the Dhurmus Suntali Foundation to relieve the earthquake victims from the cold weather in Nepal. Please visit website https://dhurmussuntali.com/en to know more about the great work this foundation is doing.
3. NCCO sent the amount of $3000.000 (three thousand) to help rebuild Shree Ballahari Prathmik Bidhyalaya, Chhoprak 3, Gorkha (Nepal)
4. NCCO sent the amount of $2000.00 (two thousand) to Shree Kandeswori Primary School, Lothar, Chitawan (Nepal).
